Acid and Inflammation Blamed as Root Cause of Illness

A taxed body suffers from acid burden that accumulates into a larger toxic issue causing inflammation. Acid burden symptoms are fatigue, nausea, rashes, muscle pain, headaches and digestive complaints says Dr. Andrea Maxim, N.D, from Canada.

“You can almost bet that any condition people are suffering from will have some sort of inflammatory component. We can be looking at anything from cardiovascular disease to diabetes or hormonal imbalances. Inflammatory bowel disease and any chronic inflammation of the digestive tract, Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s. Any sort of psoriasis or inflammation of the skin if you’re seeing that redness and that irritation that is inflammation. Osteoporosis is a big one because your bones have minerals that are required to keep your bones dense. The first thing that breaks down bones is inflammation,” says Dr. Maxim. She also lists other inflammatory issues as illnesses like cancer, Alzheimer’s, obesity and fatigue.

Stress creates cortisol which creates inflammation causing a viscous cycle. Sleep is one of the most vital sources to deflate the stress spiral. If you are not getting a full deep sleep your body can not recharge itself properly, flush toxins properly and rejuvenate, she says.

Fat cells hold onto toxins which cause inflammation.

Eating real foods heal the body but if you have Leaky Gut, which in and of itself is a vicious cycle of inflammation, “You’re potentially not getting those nutrients absorbed as much as you would like. Meaning you’re fighting that vicious cycle of trying to do all the right things but if you haven’t taken care of the root cause you may not be getting the right outcome you desire,” says Dr. Maxim.

The goal is to reduce inflammation that causes acidity to build up in the body.

To monitor your pH check your urine with pH strips like these. The ideal number is 7.0 throughout the day. The first morning void is the most telling as that is when your body has been detoxifying the most. If you check your pH throughout the day take note of the meals you have eaten as that could affect your result.

After lunch if you drop down to 5s it’s most likely food related. First thing in the morning your pH should be a little bit more acidic. During the day 6.8-7.2  and then later in the day should be around 6. An alkaline pH would be 7.7 or higher and it could easily mean your body is struggling to remove extra acids as they are settling within the cells. This will lower your potassium levels as potassium will be trying to open the cells to release.

“The more acidic it is the more your body is trying to eliminate toxins.” She goes on to say, “Liver support would definitely be warranted here.”

Reduction of inflammation can be done through several methods. Treat the root cause by removing the triggers of food sensitivities. Detoxification of heavy metals allows the body to remain in homeostasis. Detoxifying the body is also vital to reducing inflammation. Feeding your body with organic nutrient dense food and grass fed, grass finished meats or wild caught fish will heal inflammation through nourishment. Most important is rest and sleep so your body can heal and recover.

If you are looking for a spring board Dr. Andrea recommends a 7 day detox through dark leafy greens only for one week. This will help you identify food sensitivities. Add in other foods one at a time to determine food sensitivities. Vitamin D assists the body in inflammation easily and effectively.

Drinking lemon water assists in detoxifying. In addition, taking a like this one. You pay the same shopping through Amazon while the author receives a small referral fee from Amazon. This offsets the costs of this site.

No company pays her for writing these blogs, she considers this a form of missionary work. It is her desire to scream it from the rooftops so that others don’t suffer from the damaging effect of today’s “food”.

thanks! I’ve been too lax on drinking water with lime or lemons. will start again. :> Also, was thinking of you today because a good friend doesn’t eat any oil, butter, etc. She says it’s because she has gall stones. I know the Paleo diet is all about good fats. Is this possible?

hmmmmmm my research is showing the new studies say gall bladder issues are a direct result of low fat diets. i had gall bladder issues a year ago, was told this, researched it and took the leap. it was very hard mentally to add fats in after knowing all the instruction received on fat is bad. i did it and no longer have gall bladder issues. plus crazy hunger is gone. sugar cravings gone. i often forget to eat but before if it was close to eating time i would eat my own arm i was so ravenous and crazed over it.
