Five Factors That Perpetuate Candida

Candida is a yeast, commonly referred to as a fungus, living in every human body that is necessary for life, assists in detection and destruction of pathogenic bacteria as well as decomposes the deceased body.
Candida Albicans is the source for yeast infections, bloating after eating, toenail fungus, rashes, athlete’s foot, rectal itching, white coated tongue (thrush), dark circles under the eyes, sinus issues and many other health ailments. Natural cures for candida like this one are comprehensive. The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates is one of the most popular resources for candida sufferers. GAPS is the most inclusive protocol for resolution.

According to the Fungal Infection Trust some of these symptoms, like toenail fungus, consist of multiple yeast strains, “Three groups of fungi cause this disease and these are known as dermatophytes (for example, Trichophyton rubrum), yeasts (for example, Candida albicans) and non-dermatophyte moulds (for example, Scopulariopsis brevicaulis).”
PH Pure says common suspected causes of candida are, “Mercury amalgam ‘silver’ fillings, vaccines, antibiotics, poor diet, low pH (mineral deficiency), steroids, oral contraceptives, x-rays and gastric operations.” Other sources blame the Standard American Diet (SAD) while still others blame high stress and other environmental factors.
Many people suffer miserably from candida and have tried countless medicines and methods to cure yeast overgrowth. Yeasts are very resilient and highly adaptive making it difficult to attack.

There are five specific reasons Candida Albicans remain in a pathogenic state.
1) Candida protects the body from heavy metal toxicity. Candida surrounds metals in the body, encompassing them, in an effort to protect the body from foreign metals. If heavy metal toxicity remains present in the body the Candida will not leave. “Overgrowth of Candida is often due to heavy metal toxicity (such as mercury gradually leaching from silver fillings). Swiss research shows that Candida actually helps protect the body against heavy metal toxicity. Rather than trying to ‘kill’ the Candida, the best therapy is to clear the heavy metals and toxic dental work (all metals) so the Candida can return to normal levels in the body,” says pH Pure. This belief is not accepted by all practitioners.
NCBI (US National Library of Medicine National Institute of Health ) says, “To study this, Candida biofilms were grown either in microtiter plates containing gradient arrays of metal ions.” They go on to say, “More than 200 species of Candida have been identified, many of which are prevalent in rich soil and aquatic habitats that have been polluted with heavy metals.”
Vaughter Wellness says, “Colloidal silver – a ‘heavy’, but non-toxic metal – actually is an effective antibiotic/antifungal. Therefore the term ‘heavy metals’ is inaccurate – we should just call them ‘toxic metals’ instead. Mercury compounds are effective antibiotics/antifungals as well (that’s why they’re added to vaccines) but in concentrations found in our bodies, all they can do is slowly cause organ damage.”

2) A lack of beneficial gut bacteria, probiotics and quality fermented foods allow Candida to perpetuate. Candida generally grows in the intestinal tract where probiotics and fermented foods do battle. Fighting this literal bacteria war at the source is recommended by many medical professionals. Billions of different bacteria strains exist in the intestinal tract where they are either living or dying. Feeding many different probiotic strains from many different sources feeds different bacterial strains giving health and life to different variations of bacteria. With trillions of necessary bacteria living or dying in the intestinal tract it is important to ingest different beneficial bacteria strains on a daily basis as dysbiosis exists.

Dr. Axe from Maximize Your Health, says managing Candida can be effectively done through lacto-fermentation with a culture of microflora. He says, “The main bacilli present in lacto-fermentation are acidophilus and plantarum. The microflora feeds from the sugars found in the vegetables. The lactobacilli are partly digesting your vegetables for you, as they break down the sugar and starches. Lactobacilli have already used the sugar up, to fuel their own growth. By eating foods rich in microflora you’re re-establishing the balance of beneficial bacilli with Candida.”
3) Environmental exposure to Candida continues prolific growth. Wiley Online Library says, “Candida spp. are frequently recovered from hard surfaces in hospitals as well as from sites of fecal contamination.” Cleaning and disinfecting is a battle. WOL says, “Candida biofilms are infamous for high levels of resistance to disinfectants and antifungal agents.”
The National Institute of Health did a study testing, “Fungicidal activities of commonly used disinfectants and antifungal pharmaceutical spray preparations against clinical strains of Aspergillus and Candida species.” They found the fungus to be highly resilient and untouched by a many cleaning and disinfecting methods.
The U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) has only recently begun to recognize candida as a health problem.
4) Candida can exist in a dormant stage for years but when fed comes alive stronger.
The US National Library of Medicine published a study where, “Flow cytometry light scattering was used to monitor size increase of Candida Albicans (isolate ATCC 10231) cells in the presence or absence of the antifungal drug amphotericin B (AmB).” They concluded, “This non-invasive and descriptive method allowed for the differentiation of dead and dormant sub-populations of cells,” where they say, “observations indicate that this renewed cell proliferation was due to the reawakening of dormant cells.”
It is necessary to eliminate and flush out dead Candida spores, not just stop feeding Candida.

5) Medical assistance often leaves patients in the dark. Yeastinfectionadvisor.com says, “Dr. Brent A. Bauer of the Mayo Clinic, believes that there is very little evidence to support the diagnosis of yeast syndrome.” He also states, “There are no clinical trials that document the efficacy of a Candida cleanse diet for treating any recognized medical condition.”
Dr. Mitchell at Mitchell Medical Group says, “Some doctors think that an overgrowth of Candida isn’t a problem.”
This poses a problem for those who suffer from overgrowth that eventually goes systemic, where the problem gets worse.
The best way to eradicate yeast like this is to drown it out with beneficial strains. Yeast responds very well to home brewed kefir, yogurt, kraut and kraut juice and commercial probiotics like these.

Hi,
I wholeheartedly agree that heavy metals cause candida to overgrow and until metals are dealt with its hard to resolve candida. You have to improve the health of the whole body by balancing minerals as well as addressing the candida directly in the gut with diet, anti fungals and biofilm treatment.
Also if one has a lot of mercury fillings this can prevent one from getting rid of candida because mercury can sterilise the gut due to its anti bacterial effects.
I had a chronic yeast infections for 2 years and tried everything but it always came back, I was on the candida diet for years. After detoxing metals for a while and improving the terrain of my body- my candida and parasites died off on their own because my body became an unhospitable host for them. Candida antibody testing showed that I no longer had candida anymore.
You can read my experience on my website here:

How does eating pickles, sauerkraut and K ombucha help eliminate Candida albicans overgrowth? I THINK that’s a lie because I love pickles and fermented cabbage and still keep getting yeast overgrowth. I believe it fuels it NOT helps to eliminate it…vinegar and YEAST love vinegars, mold, and YEAST. They work together like co-workers. Sucks! I do find raw pasteurized (goat kefir) a highly beneficial probiotics that helps my immune system fight those health robbers.
These items made with vinegar are not probiotic foods, which contain beneficial yeast strains that drown out the pathogenic yeast strains.
