GAPS Approved Gelatin – The Full Story

“Gelatin is allowed on GAPS,” says Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. “It’s just that recent research has demonstrated that because all the animals in the commercial agriculture are fed genetically modified soya and fed commercial feed which are made out of grains and soya which have been sprayed with Glyphosate. Glyphosate is one of the most appalling, invasive and harmful agricultural chemicals. It is the most used chemical. It is in every plant that has been grown in industrial agriculture. Of course the animals have been fed pellets, they’re all fed commercial foods.” (1:08:14)

This means the building, GAPS gelatin, is best organic and as fresh as possible. Making gelatin at home can be done by cooking pastured chicken feet as you would GAPS Meat Stock. This gelatin is organic, GAPS approved, and easy to use for GAPS gummies and marshmallows. This one is also organic and GAPS compliant.

In June of 2017, a report written by 14 scientists was published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health with the conclusion that the, “Current safety standards for GBHs (Glyphosate Based Herbicides) are outdated and may fail to protect public health and the environment.”

They noted, “Unexplained chronic kidney disease has killed thousands of rice farm workers in Sri Lanka and sugarcane workers in Central America; exposure to herbicides including GBH has been documented in some of these populations.”
A number of other studies have evaluated the association between exposures to GBHs and other health effects in humans including cancer. In fact, some of the most compelling studies in human populations suggest associations between GBHs and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.”

They go on to say, “Unfortunately, glyphosate, in its biochemical structure is very similar to an amino acid glycine which is abundant in gelatin, abundant in collagen and all these micro molecules which are essential to rebuild the gut lining, to heal and seal the gut, they’re essential. It is important for us to look for organic gelatin and look for meats which were grown on organic farms (1:08:34) and speak to the farmer and ask them, are they feeding commercial pellets. Even on organic farms they still feed these pellets made out of soya and grains. There’s a lot of cheating in organic, I’m afraid to say.”

Dr. Natasha continues to say, “Animals have a powerful detoxification system in their bodies. We have a powerful detox system, with the headquarters in the liver and departments in every cell of the body. It’s a system that works 24/7 and it is cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. It has ways of neutralizing chemicals, toxins and toxic metals. So, if an animal was fed inappropriate foods, their detox system has worked on that, and it would have neutralized a large portion of that. It’s not as harmful to eat a piece of non-organic meat or make soup out of non-organic bones, than to eat a carrot that has been directly sprayed. Vegetables and fruit I do recommend to get organic. Plants do not have the same powerful detox system that animals and birds do.”

She says, “Meat, milk and eggs, get what you can. Do  your best to get the best you can possibly find.”

TOXNET, Toxicology Data Network says, “Gene expression data suggests that Glyphosate-based herbicides have the potential to alter hormonal pathways during tadpole development. Roundup exposure had negative impact on the immune system of European sea bass. Roundup at environmentally relevant concentrations has lethal and genotoxic impact on the Indian skittering frog. Roundup also altered normal histology of the studied organs and caused a significant decrease in the number of copulations and mating success in male fish exposed to the herbicide in the neotropical native fish.”

Stephanie Seneff, senior researcher at MIT and Glyphostate expert said at talk Glyphosate, Everything You Wanted To Know About Glyphosate, But Were Afraid To Ask, Part I, at the 2017 Weston A. Price Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, “It’s been a long time researching this chemical, we certainly should have researched long before, now that we are poisoning the world.”

Seneff says, “Gelatin is likely to have a lot of Glyphosate in it because of its glycine content. Children’s vitamins that are in the gel formula have Glyphosate in them. So you think (your) giving a child a vitamin pill, (while) feeding them Glyphosate.”

In Part II of her talk she said the amino acid glycine and Glyphosate look similar, and are therefor received into the cells similarly. She says, “25% of the body is collagen. Gelatin is collagen broken down. When you start with the bones and ligaments of pigs and cows, and you turn that into gelatin, which can be used to make jello, you can make gel caps for supplements – that’s going to be contaminated with Glyphosate because the cows and pigs are fed heavy doses of Roundup Ready feed.”

Seneff goes on to say Glyphosate damages our intestinal lining since, “Glyphosate has been found as a contaminant in digestive enzymes trypsin, pepsin and lypase.”

If trypsin isn’t functioning properly, gluten doesn’t get digested and zonulin, which glues together the villi in the gut, can’t work properly. This is the root cause of Intestinal Permeability, otherwise known as Leaky Gut. When this process happens, as described fully here, autoimmunity begins. This causes a malfunction of serotonin, trypotphan, pepsin and lypase.

Professor Don Huber told Weston A. Price attendees, “Future historians may look back upon our time and write… about how willing we are to sacrifice our children and jeopardize future generations for this massive experiment we call genetic engineering that is based on failed promises and flawed science.”

Products that most commonly contain Glyphosate filled gelatin are gummies, supplements or vitamin capsules, vaccines (the live virus is most often grown on gelatin), pharmaceutical medicines and beauty products.

The one linked in the post, this one, is organic, as Dr Natasha recommends. https://www.amazon.com/Bone-Broth-Gelatin-Powder-Organics/dp/B01N2RHMUI/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&qid=1523132434&sr=8-6&keywords=organic+gelatin&linkCode=li2&tag=nourishingp0c-20&linkId=b31fb6e82392743bac98de782c79a94b
