Maintaining Hunger And Stabilizing Blood Sugar While On GAPS
Often times when a person switches from a Standard American Diet, to a healthful diet of no sugars, starches or grains, cravings and withdrawals appear. Sugars, starches and grains often feed yeasts, which when not fed, get angry and exhale toxic gasses. Candida albicans, one of 250 yeasts in the body, exhales 176 toxic gasses such as methane gas, ethanol, hydrogen gas, ammonia, acetone, and more. These toxic gasses have been classified as going from the intestinal tract, through the vagus nerve to the opiate receptors of the brain, causing the desire for the foods which feed the yeast. These folks are classified as responding like drug addicts for sugars, grains and starches which feed the starving yeasts. Click here to read more.
Current Opinion in Microbiology says, “Animal models argue that Candida colonization delays healing of inflammatory lesions and that inflammation promotes colonization. These effects may create a vicious cycle in which low-level inflammation promotes fungal colonization and fungal colonization promotes further inflammation. Both inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal Candida colonization are associated with elevated levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-17.”
Gut Pathogens says those with deeper damage in the microbiome, as in those with Celiac, have excessively higher yeast counts.
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition made it clear in a study analyzing the use of saturated fat and heart disease. They found, “A meta-analysis of prospective epidemiologic studies showed that there is no significant evidence for concluding that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of coronary heart disease or cardio vascular disease.”

Dr. Natasha says in GAPS FAQS, “Cravings for sweet things and chocolate are due to unstable blood sugar level. In order to remove your sugar cravings you need to keep your blood sugar at a steady level. Here is what we do: make a butter / honey mixture or a coconut oil / honey mixture, put it in a glass jar and carry that jar with you everywhere. Eat 2-3 tablespoons of this mixture every 15-25 minutes all day long. Do this for a month or longer depending on the severity of your sugar cravings; in the meantime focus on implementing the GAPS diet, which will normalise your blood sugar permanently. Once your blood sugar is normal, you cravings will be gone and at that stage you can stop carrying a jar of butter / honey mixture with you.”
To make the honey butter mixture, blend together in a mixer, on high, one cup of grass fed butter (200-400 grams) and one to three tablespoons local honey. The mixture can be made with coconut oil if butter isn’t desired or tolerated.
Beating the mixture for about 20 minutes, scraping down the sides to incorporate, makes a fluffy frosting like mixture.
The longer you beat the mixture, the more fluffy it becomes.
It can be stored in small glass jars and taken with you through the day. Dr. Natasha further says, “When sugar cravings are gone, you will be able to maintain your blood sugar normal between meals without having to eat anything.”

Two to three Tablespoons every 15-25 minutes all day long?
Are you sure it is not teaspoons ? Tablespoons seem like way too much, not that I would be unable to eat 2-3 Tablespoons since I love sweet fatty items like frosting.
I actually eat raw sweet organic baby carrots to STOP the sugar cravings or MAKE a homemade fresh berry juice or lemon aloe Vera juice all raw ingredients. Aloe Vera plant gel from the actual plant is so beneficial for good healthy gut repair. I cured my horrible adult acne by drinking it EVERY morning on an empty stomach. 1 cut aloe plant stem with knife cut out the spiky edges and THEN carefully the top side of the skin. With that same long thin knife or spoon scrap off the gel into the blender. Cut 4-5 yellow lemons add juice inside along with half a cup of purified filtered water or 1 small bottle of purified water. Then peel and cut a small piece of raw ginger into juice mix and add raw honey for sweetness sprinkle in a tab of Cheyenne pepper and blend on HIGH until all smooth. And drink up EVERY morning on an empty stomach. It helps with ibs, diabetes, acne, and gut repair. The aloe Vera plant you can ALSO buy at home depot. Don’t drink store bought aloe Vera juice. It’s watered and excess sugared down junk. Same with coconut water…best brands are clear no excess sugars/or other additives. I like vita coconut water brand.I usually drink it if my electrolytes are off, or if I God forbid get dihaeria from overriding herbs together which is rare. Probably like less than once every couple of month’s. Other than that my bowel movements are pretty healthy and constant. Lol
