Recommended Medical & Registered Dietician Advice That’s Making You Sick

The concept of “everything in moderation” is not acceptable because drinking lighter fluid in moderation is not acceptable, eating antifreeze in moderation is not healthy and having human hair or duck feathers for lunch in moderation is not beneficial – yet these are the ingredients in processed foods today.

There are a number of medical personnel as well as registered dietitians, “Who don’t get it,” says Dave Asprey, founder of Bulletproof Executive. They are causing more damage every day with advice like, “Eat soy protein nuggets and a low fat diet with high fructose corn syrup.” 

The preservative tertiary butylhydroquinone, or TBHQ, is lighter fluid, which is used in chicken nuggets. Propylene glycol, which is antifreeze, is used in ice cream and frozen yogurt to prevent them from turning into a block of ice. L-cysteine, found in bread and used as a dough conditioner, is derived from human hair or duck feathers.

PubMed says, “Low temperature scanning electron microscopy revealed highly irregular crystal morphology in both ice cream and sucrose solutions frozen in a scraped-surface freezer. There was strong evidence to suggest that PGMS (propylene glycol monostearate) directly interacts with ice crystals and interferes with normal surface propagation.”

Having a smooth ice cream surface isn’t worth consuming non-food items, like antifreeze.

PubMed refers to both ethylene glycol or propylene glycol as antifreeze products.

“MSG and genetically modified soy protein extract, pretty much screw everybody up, some people more than others but there is no benefit to consuming those foods,” Asprey says.

“I’ve ranked foods from least likely to cause problems to most likely to cause problems. This is not good to bad; the way the spectrum works is we have basic bulletproof foods, foods that are very likely to help how you feel and how you perform. They are lower in toxins and higher in nutrients. There are suspect foods. Maybe they’re good for you, maybe they’re not – but you need to test it,” Asprey says. “Then at the very bottom of it we have kryptonite foods.”

Kryptonite foods, he says are the ones like MSG and genetically modified soy. He adds, “They’ll keep the hardware of your body alive even though you’re going to feel like crap all the time.”

Doing the best you can with the resources you have is optimal he says. “No one is ever going to be eating their food from the most perfect source, especially today when even if you source all your food from your own organic grass fed cow and organic garden. There are still toxins growing in the air. Removing the foods that are kryptonite foods, and those ranked not beneficial is key. Choose foods that give you energy and mental clarity while avoiding foods that slow you down, give you gas, burping or bloating.

In Good Calories, Bad Calories Gary Taubes says eat fish, meat, birds, all green vegetables, eggs, cheese and sun-sweetened fruit (except bananas or grapes which are excessively high in sugar).

Asprey says, “Undamaged, unhydrogenated fats are not a cause for alarm. When you have a saturated fat it’s stable. That means that oxygen can’t stick to it unless you heat it to very high levels. When you have a polyunsaturated fat, what you have is a fat that can oxidize and they create free radicals on an ongoing basis.”

He goes on to say, “Your body needs a few polyunsaturated fats but what you really want to be able to do is have saturated fats so you can make good hormones out of them. Saturated fats that are stable help you make cell membranes and hormones.”

When you make this switch, generally what happens is your HDL cholesterol goes up over the next 6 weeks. Your LDL may go up, down or stay the same, triglycerides will drop remarkably, CRP (an inflammation marker) plummets, LPPLA2 (a marker showing cholesterol in the arteries) declines. If your inflammation markers are still elevated, this reflects the inability to methylate properly. Adding methyl B12 keeps the cells working properly. Many people are suffering with poor health yet getting the advice from their doctor, “Eat what you want.” Registered dietitians who recommend foods loaded with processed wheat, canned foods and sugary juices are not helping either. When a hospital serves you a tray, approved by a registered dietician, that contains a slice of bread, with an imitation butter spread, Jello, broth and juice, what they are really serving you is sugar, chemicals and preservatives, which will not help the body achieve health.
