At this time when some are cracking jokes about us being in the middle of coronavirus halftime, now may be the time to mention we aren’t seeing coronavirus overtake people who have been building their microbiome. Now is the time to take action.

“If you look back to 1976 when we have this huge uptick in viral syndromes, species jumping, viruses were really starting to do weird things genomically. We’ve had 12,800 new viruses in that time,” says Zach Bush.

Bush is a physician specializing in the microbiome, internal medicine, endocrinology, and hospice care.

Dr. Bush says, “May this respiratory virus that now shares space and time with us teach us of the grave mistakes we have made in disconnecting from our nature and warring against the foundation of the microbiome. If we choose to learn from, rather than fear, this virus, it can reveal the source of our chronic disease epidemics that are the real threat to our species.”

He blames the vast sickness in our society on Glyphosate and toxin overload  saying, “Over the last 25 years we have seen the most profound explosion of chronic disease in human history. Research from around the globe now suggests that environmental factors are now contributing a combination of genetic, neurologic, autoimmune, and metabolic injuries that underpin the collapse of health in our children and adults.”

This toxic overload burdens our systems. We can’t fight off viruses and pathogens as readily, whether they are man-made or wild.

In an interview, he says, “The virus is going to move through the population, just like every other coronavirus that’s resulted in widespread death. It’s gone within the first two years. The first one was SARS, and no vaccine, no anything, we just developed herd immunity. The actual biologic pool for production of that virus disappeared, so that’s one’s gone, 2002 it happened. By 2003 it was gone. MERS happens 2012, by 2013 it’s gone, no vaccines.”

Living in fear does not help, in fact it’s quite detrimental. Building the terrain is the goal.

“It’s the microbiome. It is the bacteria and fungi that is the communication within,” says Bush.

He recommends several things:

Sleep is essential to building a strong system, shooting for eight hours each night. He says a 10 pm bedtime is most supportive.

Outside time is supportive and building, soaking in the fresh sunshine and breathing in the biome.

Hydration is key to keeping the body properly fed.

Turn off the news. This one is key. Stress is detrimental to health. News that perpetuates and incites fear is not helpful to a healthy body. The news promotes and dramatizes the most horrific scenarios and possibilities. Catching a quick glimpse first thing in the morning can keep you up to date without bogging you down.

Eat whole real foods, cooked fresh. Sit together and eat with those you love. Bush says the company you keep is most important.

Alcohol should not exceed one drink a day.

Find a hobby or creative outlet and do it daily.

Avoid processed foods and sugar.

Laugh with deep joy, bringing out your inner child.
