Pretty close to 100 percent of dentists would admit amalgam fillings are safe, according to Hal Huggins. He said, “If they want to be in dentistry tomorrow. The Dental Association has certain rules and regulations. If a dentist is asked is mercury toxic and they say anything affirmative, if they say Yes it is, it’s the most poisonous  metal on the planet that’s not radioactive, they’re going to lose their license and be selling used cars the next day.” (30:53)

Meanwhile the American Dental Association is reported as saying, “The ADA owes no legal duty of care to protect the public from allegedly dangerous products used by dentists. The ADA did not manufacture, design, supply or install the mercury-containing amalgams. The ADA does not control those who do. The ADA’s only alleged involvement in the product was to provide information regarding its use.”

The International Center For Nutritional Research says, “Florida’s environmental regulatory agency notes that one mercury filling from one tooth thrown into a lake is enough to contaminate that lake for fishing and swimming.”

In the documentary The Beautiful Truth, the topic is explained. Amalgams show the ability to prevent healing in the body.

Dr. Huggins is famous for his groundbreaking exposure of the dangers of amalgam fillings and root canals. He was labeled an “Elder Statesman” of Holistic Dentistry. Huggins, a dentist, blamed toxic dental materials on numerous illnesses and degenerative disease. As a dentist Huggins knew the predicament for dentists. Knowledge of the dangers left their hands tied.

“What they believe, what they can say, two different things,” Dr. Huggins said.

Huggins noted incorrect removal of amalgam fillings caused great damage to a person’s health. “Those people that go out and just have their fillings removed at random, by measurement, 63 percent end up with an autoimmune disease within six months that they did not have before they had their amalgams removed,” Huggins said. (31:33).

Dr. Huggins lost his dental license for speaking out on the dangers of amalgams and root canals. He spent the rest of his life teaching on the subject.

Howard Straus, Max Gerson’s grandson, says, “Dental amalgam is the biggest and the worst exposure to mercury that most Americans have in their lives.” (22:42).

Dr. Roger Eichman and Dr. David Kennedy are famous for exposing amalgam vapors under UV light from amalgam fillings, also known as alloy. They found stimulation of any kind

released amalgam vapors. Stimulation such as chewing, heat at 110 degrees such as a hot cup of coffee or tea as well as cold, such as eating ice cream, activated the amalgam to release more toxic gas. To watch the video of mercury filling gasses being released click here.

Holistic dentists and bioidentical dentists who remove amalgams follow safety standards that are alarming.

In the United Kingdom, “The Hazardous Waste Directive (91/689/EEC) stipulates that all amalgam waste produced in dental practices must be disposed of without endangering human health and the environment. Amalgam waste is also classified as hazardous under the European Waste Catalogue.”

This includes proper disposal of the filling itself as well as protection for waste water from dental tools.

Since 2005, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland heed waste management practices for amalgam disposal assuring that it doesn’t enter the sewer system. Amalgam and amalgam particles are classified as hazardous waste.

The Australian Dental Association takes particular concern with amalgams, amalgam removal, waste water contamination and the bio-accumulative effect it has on the environment.

Even The American Dental Association has regulations and guideline for amalgam disposal down to the point of using separate water removal devices so there is no contamination. They say, “Don’t rinse devices containing amalgam over drains or sinks.”

The AMA reported 29.7 tons of mercury was discharged by dental offices in 2001. After analyzing all the disposal routes they reported, “A total of 0.4 tons (0.3 tons from wastewater treatment plant effluent and 0.1 ton from air deposition) of mercury entering surface waters in the United States could be attributed to dental office discharge.”

Our water supplies are receiving this mercury load, causing the fish to be contaminated. In February of 2016, the state of California reported, “74 lakes listed as impaired from mercury.”

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency reports, “A water body is considered ‘impaired’ when more than 10 percent of a fish species in a lake or river have a mercury concentration in fillets that exceeds 0.2 parts per million.”

The International Center For Nutritional Research says, “Dentists and dental personnel who work with amalgam are chronically exposed to mercury vapor. Mercury levels in urine of dental personnel average about two times that of controls. Walking into the average dental office can result in a mercury exposure that’s approximately equivalent to having 19 amalgam fillings.”

They go on to say, “Female dental technicians who work with amalgam have significantly reduced fertility and lowered probability of conception–and their children have significantly lower average IQ compared to the general population.”
